About us

Bunting & Sons currently has 15 Suffolk Punches: 4 mares, 2 fillies, 2 colts (the two new foals) and 7 geldings. The Horkesley Park Suffolk Punches stud (with all but 2 of the youngest horses broken to work) is one of the largest collections of working heavy horses in the country.

During the last five years ten foals have been born to our mares and registered with the Horkesley Park prefix. The Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch heavy horse team includes 9 full time heavy horse grooms, commentators and instructors too.  The teams work throughout the Eastern Region and further afield undertaking a wide range of work, from working demonstrations, to environmental projects and corporate training days.

Our largest transporter comfortably accommodates 8 heavy horses and 6 grooms

Bunting & Sons has converted a redundant dairy farm on our estate into a heavy horse yard with stables and training facilities and reverted cropped agricultural fields into parkland fields with running water suitable for the heavy horses.  We now have over 60 acres of paddocks, individual stabling for 12 horses, barn stabling for a further 7 horses and training stalls for 4 horses.

We work very closely with the Suffolk Horse Society, founded in 1877, of which Daniel Bunting, a 7th generation partner of Bunting & Sons, is a Council Member and the Eastern Counties Heavy Horse Association (ECHHA) of which Daniel Bunting and Chris Pratt (Bunting & Sons’ Head Horseman) are both Council Members.
