The Heritage Farm

The Anchor Inn Heritage Farm adjoins the Anchor Inn in Nayland.

The Anchor Inn is also owned by the family partnership Bunting & Sons and is in the picturesque village of Nayland nestled on the banks of the River Stour.  The Anchor’s aspiration is the simplicity of delivering food to the table from the land closest to it, but in a way that restores and conserves a natural working landscape. Visitors can therefore enjoy both the great menus and the delightful setting.

The Anchor Inn Heritage Farm uses traditional heritage farming methods with Suffolk Punches working the kitchen garden and heritage farm. Customers are invited to wander through the kitchen garden and around the heritage farm.  On a visit you may see our conservation projects to encourage populations of birds, bees and other insects or perhaps goats, pigs and the Suffolk Trinity – Red Poll cattle, Suffolk sheep and Suffolk Punch heavy horses…

Uniquely the Anchor Inn and Anchor Inn Heritage Farm provide a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy and appreciate traditional non-intensive farming, living heritage, conservation and the best of food in a beautiful location.

The horses work at the Anchor Inn Heritage Farm on Tuesday and Thursday between 12 noon and 2pm and can only work if the weather and ground conditions permit. Therefore we would suggest you give the Anchor Inn a call on 01206 262313 before you set out if you are making a special trip to see the horses.
